Stochastic RSI in brief

Stochastic RSI applies the stochastic formula to the RSI instead of to price, so it moves faster. Common settings are 14, 14, 3, 3, with 80 and 20 as overbought and oversold. Its two lines (%K and %D) crossing in those zones are the usual signals.

The video shows the complete rules with chart examples. The notes below cover the principles the method is built on; test any strategy in a simulator or on demo before using real money.

Gold-specific risk

  • Gold moves fast; on most brokers a $1 move is $1 per 0.01 lot (100-ounce contract), so check your broker's contract size.
  • Spreads widen around news and at the daily rollover.
  • Use the trend from H1 and trade signals only in that direction.

Rules that keep scalping safe

Fixed risk, a daily loss limit and no trading in the minutes around US news such as NFP and CPI.

  • Stochastic RSI: RSI par stochastic, settings 14,14,3,3.
  • 80 overbought, 20 oversold.

What is the best indicator for Gold scalping?

There is no single best one. Stochastic RSI is popular for timing, combined with the H1 trend and support and resistance.

What are the best Stochastic RSI settings for M5?

The default 14, 14, 3, 3 is the most common starting point.

How much does Gold move per 0.01 lot?

On most brokers (100-ounce contract), a $1 move in Gold is about $1 per 0.01 lot. Check your broker's contract size.
