Lesson notes
What support and resistance really are
Support is a price area where buyers stepped in before and pushed price up. Resistance is an area where sellers stepped in and pushed price down. They exist because traders remember these prices and place orders around them again.
Think of them as zones, not thin lines. Price rarely turns at the exact same pip, so mark the area between the candle bodies and wicks that reacted.
Why most levels fail
- Drawn on random points. A level needs a clear reaction: a swing high or low that price respected.
- Too many lines. When the chart is full of levels, every move touches one and none of them mean anything.
- Lower timeframe only. Levels from M5 or M15 break easily. Levels from H4 and D1 hold far more often.
- No context. A support level in a strong downtrend is more likely to break than to hold.
- News and momentum. Big news candles can run straight through any level.
Rules to draw the levels that matter
- Start on a higher timeframe (D1, then H4). Mark only the most obvious turning points.
- Use swing highs and swing lows where price clearly reversed, not small pauses.
- Draw a zone that covers the bodies and wicks of the reaction candles.
- Keep 2–4 key levels around the current price. Delete the old, far-away ones.
- Watch for role reversal: broken resistance often becomes support, and broken support becomes resistance.
- Do not trade the level alone. Wait for a reaction candle (rejection or momentum) at the zone.
Khulasa (Roman Urdu / Hindi)
- Support aur resistance line nahi, zone hota hai.
- Pehle D1 aur H4 par sirf wazeh swing high aur swing low mark karein.
- Chart par 2–4 se zyada levels na rakhein, warna har level bekaar lagega.
- Toota hua resistance aksar support ban jata hai (role reversal).
Questions
Should support and resistance be a line or a zone?
A zone. Price seldom turns at one exact price, so mark the area that covers the reaction candles' bodies and wicks.
Which timeframe is best for support and resistance?
Start on D1 and H4. Levels from higher timeframes hold more often than levels drawn only on M5 or M15.
How do you identify strong support and resistance?
Look for levels on higher timeframes with several clear reactions, and where different tools meet, such as a round number or a Fibonacci level.
Why does support become resistance?
Traders who bought at the old support and are now losing often sell when price returns to it, so the broken level acts from the other side.
Is support and resistance enough to trade?
It tells you where to look. Add the trend direction and a confirmation candle for the entry.
Does support and resistance work on Gold?
Yes. Gold respects higher-timeframe levels and round numbers such as whole hundreds.
