  • What top-down (multiple time frame) analysis is
  • A multiple time frame trading strategy
  • Using it for intraday trading
  • Using it for swing trading

Lesson notes

From big to small

  1. Weekly / Daily: the main trend and the major levels.
  2. H4: where price is inside that picture: at a level, in a pullback or in a range.
  3. H1 / M15: the setup and the entry.

Write down what each timeframe says before you look for a trade. If they disagree, wait.

Intraday vs swing

  • Swing traders often use Weekly–Daily–H4 and hold trades for days.
  • Intraday traders often use Daily–H1–M15 and close trades the same day.

Why it improves trades

Higher timeframes filter out trades against the main flow, and lower timeframes give tighter stops. The result is fewer trades, but with better reward to risk.

Khulasa (Roman Urdu / Hindi)

  • Bare timeframe se shuru, chhote par entry.
  • Swing: Weekly–Daily–H4. Intraday: Daily–H1–M15.
  • Timeframes ikhtilaf karein to intezar.
  • Kam trades, lekin behtar reward:risk.

Questions

What is top-down analysis in forex?

Starting the analysis on a higher timeframe for trend and levels, then moving down to lower timeframes for the setup and entry.

Which timeframes are best for top-down analysis?

Swing traders often use Weekly, Daily and H4; intraday traders often use Daily, H1 and M15.

What if the timeframes disagree?

Wait. The best trades come when the higher timeframe direction and the lower timeframe trigger agree.

Is multiple time frame analysis good for scalping?

Yes. Scalpers can use H1 for direction, M15 for levels and M1–M5 for entries.

How many timeframes should I use?

Three is enough for most traders: one for direction, one for the setup and one for the entry.

What is the difference between top-down and bottom-up analysis?

Top-down starts from the big picture and zooms in; bottom-up starts from a lower-timeframe signal and checks it against higher timeframes. Top-down is safer for beginners.
